Auntie Claus, Ape Con...

I have spent the past summer working hard making puppets, and toys.

First lets talk about the puppet! Her name is Sophie and she is a young girl living in New York, who discovers a magic elevator. She is based off the character from best selling book "Auntie Claus." Athena studios purchased the rights to "Auntie Claus" and we are now working to turn it into a feature film. We put together a pitch package, and you can for the next 6 days only! Donate money to our Kickstarter, and help fund the next big christmas movie in stop motion!! You can view our kickstarter here:

Give Monies to Auntie Claus here!

Why give Athena Studios, and Auntie Claus your money?

When funding our kickstarter you are in the short funding our pitch package, but in the long paying all the artist who put their efforts, heart and soul into this project, and also funding a new start up stop motion studio. While we want to have Auntie Claus made into a feature, we also want to grow Athena Studios into a 200 person strong studio, that can do all kinds of stop motion work, and other commercial work. I believe in Athena, and this project, and want desperately a studio to call home.
What's great about Athena, is I have never worked with such a passionate group of people who really want to produce good quality and entertaining art. You can get a better look inside Athena Studios, at our make video below (P.S. make it to the end for a glimpse of me and my work station!):

It's been awhile.. I have been busy!!

Hello! So sorry I haven't blogged in a long time! I have been so busy! What have I been doing?
Well..

Firstly.. i have been working for AthenaStudios, fabricating a puppet for a pitch package. This includes, making the molds, casting the silicone, seaming the puppet, managing the face process, sanding the faces, painting the silicone and finally creating the costume! It has been a lot of work, and I am very excited about the results and cannot wait to share it with you! In the meantime you can track our progress and my bio, on Athena's website, http://www.athenastudios.com/people.html

Secondly.. RawrzToys have been going strong! Ann and I have had 3 shows since May, I will post some photos from these shows to this blog entry. Most importantly we have our toys in a great store called, "A little known shop". This space was started by 3 young woman like Ann and I, hoping to share art with the world. They host amazing events, and are a great addition to the community, as they provide music, crafts, food and artwork to adults and kids alike. We have been in their store since June, and will be there a few more months.

Thirdly.. I have finally updated the website, it can be found at www.victoriarosepuppets.com

Lastly.. The puppets I made for liftanimation.com are animated and posted! I mixed silicone colors, cast and seamed the robust lady in the logo, and cast, seamed and painted henrietta, they have a kickstarter ending in 8 hours, as seen here Henrietta Kickstarter

I can't wait to share more soon!

We premiered our giraffe toys!!

We also premiered our elephant toys!

What I'm doing..

I'm working on a couple "Mad God" puppets. I've also begun pre work for "Auntie Claus", a children's book which will hopefully become a stop motion feature! I'm making the puppet's silicone body, costume, hands, and helping the project in a few other ways! I cast, seamed and painted a couple puppets and wired, cast and painted hands for Lift Animation. Still working on Leonardo, it's moving along and I can't wait to dive in and start making molds! I also have two commissioned paintings I'm hoping to finish this week.

Robot Chicken and Stoopid Buddy Studio had a panel this past weekend at the Walt Disney Museum to close out their stop motion gallery. It was amazing! They were so great with the audience. Seth Green became the owner of a new Rawrztoy and was nice enough to take photos with us! So in closing here is some more Rawrz! I posted a toy process album on facebook if you want to see more about how Rawrztoys are made! www.facebook.com/rawrztoys

Wonder Con and Tippett Studios

Hello!
It has been a long while since a proper update, the reason for this is I have been busy at work making puppets (Tippett's Mad God, and for a studio called Lift Animation) as well as making 400! toys for Wonder Con with Ann Sidenblad, and Kyle Most. Up next I'm working on another "Mad God" puppet, as well as working on puppets for Jim Capobianco's film "Leonardo"  http://leoanimation.blogspot.com

For a closer look at what I did on Mad God, I made the "Beaky Guy" Puppet, as seen below

For this guy, I made the mold, air brushed the gradient layers of silicone into the mold before casting, clip foamed the interior, mixed all the dragon skin colors, cast, and seamed him!

For more about Mad God click here

Wonder Con was intense, we handed out about 3,000 cards, and gained a lot of toy exposure! I also added a photo album of the making of our toys on facebook

View it here!

I will leave you with some WonderCon photos, and check back soon as I will be updating more throughout April!
